I noticed that the Golden Gate Australian football league (GGAFL) are holding the one and only Australia vs rest of the world game on April 19th at 2pm. It is going to be played at Ygnacio Valley Park located on the Cnr David St and Oak Grove Concord, CA 94518. Anyway, just thought I would see if there is any interest in going, maybe trying to get some good old fashioned meat pies and having a Meetup watching the Australians vs Americans right in front of us. It seems they have played for the last 3 or 4 years and it has become a regular thing they are doing around Anzac day.
You can read about it at the following link! http://www.ggafl.com/... Kerry |

It's just down the road for us so we'll probably go. We went to a couple of gams last years for the sake of home sickness and the lack of being able to watch any Aussie sports.
If you find any GOOD meat pies let me know. All we've found is some english made ones from an ausie store in san jose that are similar but don't come close to comparing, and the ones at the new zealand pub in alameda...still nothin like a real aussie pie though. |

Would love to go but Concord is a little far from me. Will see if others are headed there from the Peninsula.
On the topic of meat pies: http://www.australian... Tried these guys and they are the real deal. But they are in Seattle. If you get a chance their sausage rolls and lamingtons are to die for! http://www.dubpies.co... http://www.australian... http://www.aussieimpo... (Four'n Twenty pies) |
